What is a twin turbo?

A twin turbo is a type of turbocharged engine that uses two turbochargers to increase its power output. The two turbochargers work in tandem to compress and force more air into the engine, resulting in improved performance and acceleration.

In contrast to a single turbo engine, a twin turbo engine has the advantage of being able to provide boost pressure at lower engine speeds, improving low-end torque and throttle response.

Twin turbochargers can be arranged in different ways - either sequentially or parallel. In a sequential system, one turbocharger operates at lower engine speeds, while the other takes over at higher engine speeds. In a parallel system, both turbochargers work together all the time.

Twin turbo engines have become increasingly popular in high-end sports cars, such as Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Porsches, and in some high-performance trucks and SUVs.
